Mining operations started in September 2015 after obtaining environmental and forest clearances and the present production capacity of the mine is 0.6 MTPA. It is Hematite Ore having average grade of 60% Fe+. At the proposed rate of production of 0.60 Million Tonnes Per Annum. Life of the Mine with the balance mineral reserves of 6.977 Million Tonnes will be 12 years. However, it is envisaged that total resources shall be around 10 Million Ton through exploratory drilling being established.

SHRI BAJRANG POWER & ISPAT LIMITED (SBPIL) is operating Shri Bajrang Iron Ore Mine located at Hahaladdi & Chahchad villages, Durgukondal Tehsil, Uttar Bastar Kanker District, Chhattisgarh. The Mine is spread over an area of 75 Ha and is part of Forest Compartment No: 641 & 642 falling in Durgukondal Forest Range Bhanupratappur (East) Forest Division, Durgukondal Tehsil, Uttar Bastar Kanker District, Chhattisgarh.

This mine is connected with National Highway (NH-43) connecting Raipur – Kanker and is located at a distance of about 70.0 km & the State Highway (SH-5) connecting Bhanupratappur - Pakhanjur and is at a distance of about 1.0 km. The nearest railway station is located at Bhanupratappur which is 33 km & Raipur Railway Junction is 163 km. The average altitude is about 550 m above MSL.

Shri Bajrang Iron Ore Mine is an opencast mechanized mine. The Mining operations are systematic and sequential which includes mine development and mine production through conventional method such as drilling, blasting, loading of ore and transport of ore.

Mining operations commenced on 9/2/2015 after obtaining Environmental and Forest clearance and the present production capacity of the mine is 0.6 MTPA. It is Hematite Ore having average grade of 60% Fe+. At the proposed rate of production of 0.60 Million Tonne Per Annum, life of the mine with the balance mineral reserves of 6.977 Million Tonnes will be 12 years. However, it is envisaged that total resources shall be around 10 Million Ton through exploratory drilling being established.

Prior to the operation of the mine we were fully dependent on outsourcing of Raw materials. Whereas, plants of this magnitude can’t run without captive resources. After the mining started, 30% requirement of Iron Ore is being met from captive resources and 70% is being met from secondary market of Odisha & NMDC.

This mine is the captive source for supply of Iron ore to SBPIL Sponge Iron Plant/Pellet Plant located at District- Raipur, Chhattisgarh.

The mining operation of Shri Bajrang Iron Ore Mine of SBPIL has resulted in the following project benefits:

  • a) Providing Employment.
  • b) Social welfare measures for the locals.

SBPIL has earmarked Rs. 50 Lakhs towards the social welfare measures for spending in future for welfare of the people in the region
